Smile 215/40R16 on 1998 EK?

Someone is selling these 16" wheels with 215/40R16 tires on them. I'm wondering if these would fit my 1998 Civic Si. What do you guys think?

I just did some number crunching and found that the height of a stock 14" wheel with 185/65/14 tires is 379.65mm, whereas a 16" wheel with 215/40/16 is 423.6mm. That's almost 4 cm of different or almost 1.5 inch! Is my math correct? Would my car get raised by 0.75 inch??

you guys are lucky... i have 195/60 r14's and i'm rubbing more the an old french ***** right now.... but when i had my 185/60 r14's up front no rub... i think i might look into some 205/40 r 14's for the next purchase so they are nice and small

that's a guideline... odds are, depending on how low you are, rubbing may occur regardless of offset... 38 is pushed closer to the fender and will destroy your fender if it's bad enough, 42 is closer to the inner framerail, and will rub your frame if anything. Also, your plastic inner liner may take abuse in lock to lock turns... so test fit them before you buy.

should be fine till you lower it, assuming correct offset... but I make no promisses. I generally frown upon incorrect size tires unless they are smaller than normal, for the sake of shortening effective gearing (increasing numerically the final drive).

The offset is quoted to me as 4*100MM, is that ok?? What is that corresponding to your requirement of 38-42 mm negative offset, Bruno?

4x100 is the bolt pattern, not offset... offset is cast into the part that bolts to the hub of the car... two totally diff't things, you need the offset.

Flip the wheel over, and on the back of it in the center, you should see a number cast into the wheel... what number is that?
