2002 SiR's dyno results
Well I met up with two fellow EP owners last weekend to dyno our cars. I'll start off with a pic! Mine's the white one.
I was pretty dissappointed with my results. But I couldn't expect much, considering my only engine mod so far is a 2.25" stainless catback exhaust. (other mods: Eibach Sportline springs, Ingalls camber kit, 17" Tenzo shu-4's, Security system) My results were weak.....here they are on two seperate runs.
first: 119.6 torque and 134.1 wHP
and second: 120.1 torque and 133.5 wHP
Doesn't help I've got heavy wheels either.
The other guys mods made for much better results....
the Silver EP has a K&N typhoon SRI, custom 2.25" midpipe (our mufflers are very free flowing already, but midpipe is restrictive), HP header, and 64mm bored throttle body. (62mm stock)

This was his best run,
128.1 torque and 153.6 wHP, the second lower graph is
of the stock baseline, just for comparison. (121.8 torque 137.0 wHP)

The Black EP's got an AEM CAI, DC ceramic header, and again a custom midpipe at 2.25"

2 runs, both very consistent. First was
128.3 torque and 147.2 wHP, and second was
128.5 torque and 147.8 wHP.
This car is VERY strange when it comes to tuning. The I/H/E bolt ons don't make a significant difference, UNLESS all three are on at once. The Black EP has dynoed every time he put a part on, and was dissappointed until he added the header. Then everything came together. He saw an increase of about 4wHP by boring the throttle body 2mm. I'll be adding the AEM CAI and DC ceramic header at the same time. Hopefully, I'll put my shame behind me and put out some better numbers! lol We're also anxiously waiting on hondata to come up with something. Apparently it's in the works....

All the americans are pissed they didn't get the Milano Red. I like it....check this one out.
It's lowered on 17"s too. Looks good with gunmetal rims and tinted. Just to give you an idea.
btw I suggest going with the custom midpipe, instead of the whole exhaust. It'll only cost you about $150. Like I said, the stock muffler's great. Same as the type R.

Yeah we brought the cars up to fuel cut-off. We're hoping hondata can help raise our redlines. Seems like there's still a shitload of power behind it.
Driving this car took some getting used to, simply because there's so much power just before the redline....it feels as though it could keep going, but then *bam* fuel cutoff. It's a real pain in the ***. I was bouncing off the rev limiter all the time when I first purchased the car.

I haven't reached the rev limiter yet, but came close.
Yup, it certainly does seem like the redline could be higher.
I heard that's the difference between our SiR's and the Type R (the redline)... not sure though.

I realize there's more to raising it, than simply messing with the ECU. But we're all ready to give it a try (the right way). I'll keep you all updated as things progress.

yeah I know what you're saying. That's why we're just waiting for hondata to get thier R&D together. Everyone's dying to raise their redlines with these EPs. Then hopefully we'll know what we need, whether it's upgraded valvesprings, etc.

SiR vs Type R diffs that I can think of:
1) the obvious ECU.
2) plastic manifold vs cast aluminum (with super fine grain sand for casting for smoothness of the surfaces)
3) typr R pistons have chromoly composite trimmings, for durability and raised compression.
4) valvetran on the two are differet as well
Just a few differences. that I can think of.
PS: B16 in the SiR is still one of the best engineered motors honda's ever made to date. K20 hasn't proven it's worthiness yet. With a good set of I/H/E, it's not impossible to bump the B16A2 to 155+ whp.
