2002 Civic LX How do you turn off the Maintenance Required light?

Everytime the dealer does an oil change he forgets to reset the light. How is it done? Can I do it myself? or is it not that simple?

Normally when the light comes on and you goto the dealer for service he should turn it off no? Well twice they forgot and the last time I came in for the oil change 500kms early and it came on now a week later. It's annoying so I wanna learn how to rest it myself.

check your manual it says it in there.... something to do with reseting the trip meter and holding it for a certain amount of time and starting the car... check the owners manual its there for sure ... my mom has the same thing happen with her 1.7 EL

the easiest way to make it go away is a small piece of black electrical tape

Nope... easiest way is to read manual and perform a 5 second job.

hold down the trip reset button and then turn the key to on while
still holding down the button and after about 10 secs it will turn off. its is programed to come around every 8000 km to notify you for oil change but somtimes there are other reasons why it comes on.
