Question 2001+ Civic - RSX Swap

I'm interested in swaping a RSX Type S engine into my 2002 Civic. Just wondering if anyone knows any shops performing this swap, and if so how much, and where are they located. I know it can be done. Check Hybrid Site for all information and related pics. Thanks...

Man, to date no one has pulled that swap off and lived to tell about it. If it does get done though, I recommend scoping out Honda Tuning magazine: these people will be the first to have it.

If you want to get more juice out of your gen 7, go to 2k1civic.com and start asking lots of questions. But I'll warn you, it's virtually impossible to get power out of the new 1.7 VTEC's, at least street legal power anyway The easiest thing to do is use Sunoco Gold gas, it gives me more kick at peak torque.

That swap in the Hybrid Honda article was done on the new SiR (US Si) which already comes with the base K20A3 motor, so swapping in a K20A2 from a RSX-S isn't that difficult, they are basically the same motor just different tuning and tranny, and some other small things. If you were to drop that same K20A2 into any other 7th gen civic, it will be more involved as they come with a D17 motor, which is a totally different platform. I doubt any shop is capable of doing this swap right now, or anytime soon for that matter. It will require some sort of custom mount kit at the very least. And anybody who knows hybrid tech knows good custom mounts are never cheap.

Man Honda really killed the Civic with this latest generation. No more double wishbone suspension, POS motor. It seems to me that HONDA is making it harder for us to enjoy our hobby by making the cars suspensions softer and less tunable and the motors harder to get power out of. Most of the other manufacturers are using the aftermarket scene as a way to get more sales. What's up with Honda?

Import entusiasts only make up a small fraction of Honda's sales. they make much more sales off of people who use it as they are intended - econoboxes. And that's who they are catering to. ex. The added weight of the new 7th gens is thanks to the much stronger body/chasis, with far superior safety ratings than earlier Civics.

Your absolutely right, but it's still a shame what their doing. I'd hate to have to buy anything other than a Honda for my next car. We've had 2 Accords, My Civic, my bros Del Sol, an Oddesey and a CR-V. All great cars. But like I said getiing more and more pedestrian with each generation.
