You need to get the engine code before we can help you further.. I'm not sure how the code is removed for the newer civics.. I'm sure someone else knows and will post soon.

You can jump the OBD connector to grab the code....but are you sure its the engine light and not the maintenance required light?

If its the maintenance required light, there is a simple way to reset it. Get into your car and push in and hold the odometer reset button with the key in the off position. Once the button is depressed, turn the key to the start position without starting the car. Now with the key turned to the start position, hold the button in until the light goes off (about 15 seconds).

hope that helps

i'm pretty sure its the engine light....but what i;m worried about is if there is damage to the engine occuring or has already occured.

Don't sweat it too much, unless you can hear and feel differences in the driving of your car...the engine light comes on for alot of different reasons other than the engine being damaged. Take it to Honda and have them read the code.

if it's flashing, then get worried, if it stays on solid it could be as simple as your gas tank cap not being tight
