1st Time Pull Out the Motor
since i have a car sitting in my carage, i know it can't be sold for too much.....i am trying to part it out and have some fun...LOL
how hard if i want to pull out the motor/tranny(for beginner like me)? never done this before, i just want to pull that out, won't install the motor back
can i do that by myself? what tools i have to use?
do i need to drain out the engine oil, tranny fluid, coolant and the gas before i do anything?
any useful website and advice?
also, after i part out the car, where can i scrap the cars? let say if the car doesn't have all the interior, fenders, front and rear bumper, windows and all the lights........just the shell........how can i scrap the car like this?
i am still trying to search on the net, but didn't find too much useful infor for this........so hope u guys can help me out
btw, car is 92 civic
really appreciate it
thanks

no offense.. but I'd get a friend who has done this before to help you. It's not exactly rocket science to pull a motor, but then again, it's not like doing an oil change.
But to answer your question, yes you should flush tranny, coolant, oil you can leave in if you please.

here are some more stupid questions........
--do i need to jack up the car? or i can do everything and just let the car stay on the ground?
--what special tools i have to use to pull out the engine?
--and the most part i concern is how i can scrap the car shell after i remove everything?
and yes, for sure, that's not an easy job for the newbie like me......so i will search all the related information, and make sure i can handle it before i pull the engine out.......
any wedsite showing some steps and pix? and other infor?
really appreciate u guys' help

well you will need a 32mm socket to get the axle nut off and a BFH to crack the balljoint loose. You will need a 8mm punch and hammer to remove the "b1tch pin" which is the pin that holds the shift linkage to the tranny. You will need some pliers, wrenches, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm sockets and some extensions and a breaker (johnson) bar, some WD-40 or other penetrating fluid will also come in handy.

let me check if i got all the tools ready........i should have these......maybe i have to borrow from my friend if i don't have
how about this question......
--do i need to jack up the car? or i can do everything and just let the car stay on the ground?
if it doesn't need to be jacked up, it would be easier to work with....

If your JUST pulling the engine I don't see a need to use a jack & stands. (never ever use just a jack) How are you going to pull the engine out? Strong arm it or cherry picker?
Oh another thing you may want a heater for the garage your working in.
For getting rid of the shell you could try and sell it on the TCC, but most of the time people here are cheap ****. Instead of looking on the internet try the yellow pages under auto wreckers.

ur gonna have to get under the car for various things...jack it up all the way around if u can and get it on stands...u could just jack up and support the front but make sure u block the rear wheels, dont need you reefing on something and the car comin off the stands
