1997 Manual Transmission engagement issue
As I have read from others, my 1997 civic cx manual transmission has trouble dropping into reverse. All gears seem a little tough but mostly reverse. Also, as I push in the clutch or let off on the gas once accelerated in reverse there is a slight rough sound from the tranny. Any thoughts anyone?

reverse gear engagment in a honda is a common problem... just lift the clutch as your holding pressure on the stick into reverse it will pop in right before clutch engagment...
as for the rest of the gears it could be tranny fluid, or to tight of a shift linkage bolt if its been worked on or short shifter installed...

the sound could just be cuz they're spur gears..not helical
again tho, best bet is to just take it in for a test drive somewhere and they should be able to give you a rough idea what's going on..
whether it's something major or not..normal or not..
that shouldn't cost you anything..
it's hard to diag something (a lot of things actually) w/o seeing/hearing/experiencing first hand..
