1996 civic idling problems
 

hey iam having a little problem with my civic...when iam driving and come to a stop light or stop sign in neutral my rpms drop to like 500....what can be the problem....any help is great...thanks

motor cold? warm? Does it do it all the time? is your driveability the same?

i would suspect an iacv, but u need to answer those questions.

the motor is warmed up and it pretty much does it all the time...driving is the same but you can feel the shifter shaking alot like its about to stall

when was the last time you did a tune up?

^^ I like where your heads at james, but if the car is not mis-firing or if drive ability is the same.. it means its an idle system issue (in most cases) FITV, IACV, etc.

But ignition mis-fires are usually at idle, so it may be an ignition mis-fire, but I'd have to see it before telling you to change plug/wires.

I'm not certain because I did my cap rotor and clean the iacv at the same time... but my car was surging on the highway .. .misfiring and I know when I looked at the connections on my cap they were corroded (SP) like a eg civic
