OK so this friend of mine comes up to me just now and asks a question I don't know the answer to(big surprise).
Apparently a guy wants to sell him an engine(honda) newer than 95 has 12 valve sohc vtec supposedly 160-170hp stock. Never heard of it. Is there such a thing?

i've never heard of it.... one of the american companies was playing with 3 valve per cylinder but i dont think honda ever has

you clearly have not heard of the early model Accord 12 valve with carburation... circa 1984 or so.

Not as of late has there been a 12 valve motor, certainly not one with 160-170 hp

they were around for the accord but I'd never drop one in a civic.....

The JDM d15B is a 12 and 16 valve motor

its a neat little engine but makes 120+ hp not 160

changes to 16valve after 3000 rpm

true but I think he's talking about only 12 valves.... see the D15b is a 16 valve engine that they choose to run as a 12 valve under a certain rpm
