Got a 93 civic and i bought bout 3 and a half months ago and i did my oil change and asked around for what grade i should put. most said 5w30. now i have bout 172000 kms on it and i used mobil one synthetic. on the 10w30 bottle it says higher mileage engines. so i stuck with this. should i use 5w 30 or 10w 30 or there isnt that much of a difference?..

try 5W30 and if it starts using oil, switch to 10W30, and if it's still using oil, switch to mineral 5W30.

what do u mean by using oil??u mean burning oil?

yes, high mileage cars don't traditionally do to well on synth unless they ran synth all their life... 5W30 is thinner, so it may seep through the wear...btw, burning may be diff't from using, but it amounts to the same thing...

damn.. thanks for the tip...so im guessing i should start on 5w30 then on my next oil change
