1.6EL with a JDM B18C(1) having Alternator issues
Hi guys let me explain my issues.
I have a JDM B18C(1) GSR/SIR-II motor in my 1998 1.6 EL using the stock auto engine harness and a ODB1 manual P72 ECU with a conversion harness. I have done a complete Manual swap and rewired the IACV etc already. I have replace my ODB1 (round 4 wire plug) Alternator with a new Alternator from a rebuild shop. I was using my D-series alternator that I modified to fit the spot but it eventually went on me. The D-series have a oval plug with only 3 wires. Now I am having an issue with the new Alternator where it is slightly too high of a voltage at idle (15.2+ V) and the charging/battery light never goes off.
What I am looking for is someone who has done a ODB1 swap into a ODB2a car and had sucess with there Alternator.
Please let me know if you have any insight here and please ask questions if something is not clear here.

Would advise to take out the alt and have it tested.

More info: The regulator checked out ok. Still seems like a wiring thing but the shop figures the unit is receiving the wrong signal again wiring. I am looking into the SIR Alts... can anyone confirm that these have the 3 prong oval plug end? I can change this Alt for a SIR one for free at the shop if they can get one.

Looks like the SiR alt does use a 3 wire plug. I would double check your wiring though because its most likely one wire is switched. What car did you get the 4-wire plug off of and did all the wire colors match up or no?

its complicated but I had a shop build me a GSR Alternator with a civic regulator. This is causing issues. I have now confirmed that the SIR 99-00 will work 100% so I will just but one of those ones and return my built one.
