1.6EL /civic suspension

hi guys,
just wondering, would the shocks/springs from 00 civic coupe be okay to be put into 97 1.6 EL acura?
thanks

imported_gatherer 06-Jul-2005 08:18 AM

yes.

lotusvale 06-Jul-2005 10:20 AM

wow.. they're exactly the same ? u sure? what bout the catback exhaust? can be used also on the EL?
thanks a lot

imported_GoldBadge 06-Jul-2005 10:30 AM

The exhaust fom a 96 - 00 Si will fit the EL. I'm pretty sure the cat back from a 99-00 SiR will fit, also.

cool cool... sorry but i guess i was assuming too much. i was talking about aftermarket parts for the suspension and exhaust. still okay right?

imported_GoldBadge 06-Jul-2005 12:44 PM

best thing to do is cross reference part numbers.

lotusvale 06-Jul-2005 12:52 PM

oh u mean.. match up the part numbers?
k thanks i'll do that

EDIT...
well the spring is s tech and i just checked from tein website, they dont' even make one for 1.6 el.
i guess tough luck:(

bbarbulo 06-Jul-2005 01:26 PM

it's still the same springs man.

exhaust too will fit.

DumbasSi 06-Jul-2005 03:01 PM

99% of the mechanical/chassis pieces are the same for Civics and ELs. Suspension, engine, exhaust. The body and interior are really the only areas that are different.

Most websites won't list parts for ELs because they are not sold in the USA. Look for USDM EX or CDN Si.

imported_slowandfurious 07-Jul-2005 09:23 PM

hey man i have an el, exhaust is the same as sir so midpipe + muffler will bolt up, springs should be the same but go with something stiffer as EL's are a little on the heavy side. Go with a good brand and look for spring rates

the only thing different between a si and el is the header(I've heard) the collector is bigger(diameter) and the primery tubes are bigger as well.Dont know if it's true or not

:) good luck
