1.6 si

makes life easier if you want to do a swap (has better ECU, vtec already wired)

1.5 is good for great gas mileage

hp difference is like 30 maybe..either way you're car isnt going to be going that fast.

the two major differences is the stroke. d15s have a 84.5mm stroke while the d16 has a 90mm stroke. both have a 75mm bore. d16's aftermarket support is waaaaaaay bigger than the d15s. you're better off going with the d16.

b16!!!!

1.6 dohc vtec goodness. and they are pretty low price now (imo, a better bang for the buck than a b18... price wise, b16s complete can be had for 1500 or even less if you search!)

b16 is dual over head cam engine. however, b16s are waaaay overated. a 1500 b16 probably won't be in the best of shape and you'll still have to buy the parts to swap it into your car. if you're not after crazy power just build the head and hand it to b16s all day long. d16 stock block with akmee type s cams > b16. you can buy the cams and the whole valvetrain for way less than 1500 bucks. save the extra weight from going b series and you'll be putting out more power than a stock b16. all the stock b16 civics i've seen at cayuga all ran mid to high 15s. i even raced one and beat him with my stock z6 with i/h/e .

don't get lost in the myth of more displacement = more HP. My D15B vtec has 5 more crank hp than the best D16.... For the most part tho, any D-series motor is gonna be 100hp at the wheels or less without a turbo or lots of bolt-ons.

B series motors are a totally different game. Check out www.d-series.org for D motor specifics.

There's more torque with a higher displacement size.

Torque = gets you moving
Hp = $ell$

lol for the price of a b16 swap + turbo i could build a d16 that would hand it to you any day. for under a g you can build a d16 to handle 400whp. vitaras and tt rods ftw!!!
