04 Civic Performance
 

Hey all,

I have an 04 Civic and looking to gain/restore any performance I can possible achieve. I'm almost at the 100k mark and looking into changing the Timing Belt, Spark Plugs, Water Pump, Air Filter, Coolant and Tranny flush. I asked a service rep at my local Honda Dealership and inquired what I can do to restore performance to my vehicle, unfortunetly his response was "nothing". I kid you not he replied there was nothing I can do to restore performance. So of course I'm turning to the pros on this forum. What can I do to restore performance?

Also I noticed when I use my A/C, my engine bogs down significantly, what can I do to fix this, or am I *S.O.L.*?

When did an 04 civic have performance??? LOL. Economy cars don't have performance.

There really is nothing you can do. As long as you keep up regular maintenance, you shouldn't really have any significant power loss.

As for the A/C, that's just how the car is. Its normal for it to do that.

The A/C situation is normal. It puts more load on the engine, thus robbing it of power, and hence you feel "bogging".

As for restoring performance, all you can do is keep up with the maintenance. It sounds to me like you dont want to do any modifications, just regain any performance that may have been lost due to wear and tear. And your list looks like a fine start.

I will suggest one thing. Have a look into a product called seafoam. Using a bottle of this in your engine is supposed to help keep it internally clean from all the deposit buildup that can become problematic over time. There is some controversy about this product, thats why I suggest you read about it and come to your own conclusions. In my opinion, it seems most who have this problems with seafoam are those who have high mileage engines where the deposits where actually, in simple terms, holding things together as it were. Then by cleaning all that gunk out, problems would reveal themselves. On a low mileage engine like yours I dont believe there should be any problems, and it would be better to start early I would imagine. But as I said, look into it.

Phuviano your right my car wasn't made for performance but merely economical. As 2Join Performance mentioned I'd definetly like to restore whatever performance was lost due to wear and tear. I see both of you concluded that with the A/C in use, the vehicle does loose its power significantly and this is considered normal.
