Question 02 SiR axle-back for 98 Si coupe?

As the subject line says, is the 2002 SiR axle-back a direct bolt-on for 1998 Si coupe? I doubt it is, but just wanna make sure. Thanks guys.

Thanks for your reply dude!! Better than not getting any! The reason I asked is because I saw a cheap one on a site... was wondering if I could take advantage of it!

If the axle back length of piping is the the same length than im sure a muffler shop could make the bend adjustments to fit...but then you would be into the extra money that it would cost to buy one that actually fits your car...

But on a side note, just for your information... an axle back will give you zero hp..you know that right? It will only sound maybe look cooler i guess.... Your best bet is to save for a whole cat back system, I know they are way more expensive, but you will gain real hp from it...

Maybe you just want the axleback now, then someday get the midpipe to compleate the catback system? the only problem with that being not many companys sell just the mid pipe, and if they do your gonna get ripped off cuz they want you to buy the whole system as a package..

Well I guess you could get a custom midpipe at a muffler shop eventually...? just some things to think about...

Thanks for the info bud! I suppose an axle-back would give me better exhaust flow at the high end?? Wouldn't that translate to running smoother at high RPM and thus increased HP/torque? In any case, I'll be getting the stock 99-00 SiR mid-pipe from this fellow who's upgraded to something even bigger, and that's supposed to up my current 1.75" midpipe to 2"... I'll get a 2.25" muffler in the future when I have the cash... probably a Dynomax or Magnaflow axle-back... something cheap yet works well. What do you think of that?

rule of thumb is... EH/EG and DC2 share platform

EK/EJ share SOME chassis and susp parts as well as drivetrain parts with the EG/DC2 platform

EM/EP share platform with DC5... this last category has NOTHING in common with the earlier platforms except for bolt pattern on the rims.

Good plan as long as u dont pay much for the sir midpipe... over 100$ is a ripoff imo... yah u will gain some top end if u have an intake system to get the air in, as well as out the exhaust..

Yeah, I've got a short ram kind of air intake already with a cone K&N filter (got heat shield too)... I heard 2.25" would cause me to lose too much low end so for my 127hp N/A engine, 2" is probably a good compromise between low end and top end... later, if I get a 2.25" exhaust, I think that would be a nice overall setup.
