02 Civic Si Throttle Body
Anybody know any technical details bout the throttle body on an 02 Civic Si. I have been getting the engine light on and off the past two weeks. I got it check by Honda and they told me that a sensor is loose in the Throttle Body. Apparently the throttle body regulates the air intake. When I drive and the light is on, the engine revs higher then it normally does before switching gears (automatic). So Honda checked it out, but problem is they cannot get to the sensor so they want to replace the whole thing. $900. Ouch!! Could somebody verify that their expertise is correct???
I have searched google and seen some vids on replacing Throttle Bodies on a Ford Msutang. Looks like everyhting comes apart easily. Is HOnda trying to screw me here or what??? Thanks FTrang |
it's an 02, why would you be paying anything??
no warranty left?? |
Yeah.. unfortuntely.. three years or 60K ended in sept. either case I'm up to 125K on my odometer. So looks like I'm out of luck.

I know this thread is a little old.
Do you know the code your car has stored? I am guessing it is P0122. If so, it is for the throttle position sensor. This sensor is riveted onto the throttle body. The only way to replace it is, to repalce the throttle body. The Honda dealer was not lying. There is no Service Bulletin out for this. One thing you might consider doing is calling Honda Canada's Customer Relations. |
try lookin at your map sensor connection i had this same problem!

They didn't tell you exactly what the problem is??? or what code ??
