00civic ex idling issues lagging and bounceing

Hi guys,
I have a 2000 civic ex when i bought it the car had a swap they have the car running on a auto ecu and wire harness but the car is manual i was wondering what i needed to do to run a manual ecu. The car has a manual intake with the iacv but not hooked up also, has a auto throttle body with an iacv there that is hooked up but plugs are completely differnt and im having idleing issues after having the timming belt done before this the car ran fine now i replaced the timming belt distributor and plugs cuz my belt went and all a sudden my idles is bounceing and lagging can someone please help Me thanks.

Ok wow, lots of problems here. 1st, what swap is done to the car? EX in the states was originally a d16y8 IIRC, now the manual ECU, should basically drop in if the car is manual. The IAC on the manifold needs to be wired up for idle to work properly, the one on the TB isn't an IAC, it sorta acts like one but it the FITV (fast air idle valve) for cold starts. (auto may be different I dunno much bout the slush box versions of our cars) From what I remember about ek's you shouldn't need to worry about the one on the TB too much some after market throttles delete that part even. Tho that said you can by pass it with coolant lines or read up on how to "fix" you FITV if needed, its a couple screws and a white plastic ring that needs to be adjusted occasionally if ever.

If the problem didn't exist till the belt was done and it hadn't gone on you first, I'd say double check you have the right distributor and yes cheap chinese ones can be "right" and not actually work out of the box, make sure you used NGK plugs not Champion or Bosch cause those are great plugs in motors meant for them but even tho the fit Hondas they don't work at all. Then I'd line up the motor to top dead if it's still running bad and make sure the belts on proper, even one tooth out can make it run like a dying tractor.

When you say the belt went tho that worry's me. If the belt broke there's a very good chance you bent valves and that could definitely cause the problems you're having. For this reason I'd strongly suggest a compression test. This should have been explained to you by whoever did the belt tho if they knew going into it that the old belt broke. You may need to pull the head off and replace any/all valves and seals recommended by a good machine shop. If the motor swapped in is just a D series, then it might be cheaper to just go find another motor and put the new parts on it.
