00 Civic SiR - Gas Mileage

Hey, Everyone

I filled up my gas tank with Petro Canada 92 Octane. (I also use shell and Sunoco) I only get 375 miles out of one tank. Is this normal how much should I get. Do I need to get some type of maintenance to fix this and if yes what exactly needs to be done?

Your expertise is greatly appreciated!

375 Miles?? That sounds like more than enough.

imported_gatherer 20-May-2003 06:36 PM

375 miles would be .... multiply by 2.2 km/mile ummmm 825Km/tank wow dude that sounds like great mileage!

00 Civic SiR 20-May-2003 07:18 PM

Um... Let me possibly clarify. On my trip meter it indicated 3750.

375 kilometres.

Is this good??

blk93si 20-May-2003 07:25 PM

its ok , should be over 400, try a tune up or ease off on the gas pedal :D

00 Civic SiR 20-May-2003 07:48 PM

Actually I wasn't driving it hard. Although I really enjoy driving my car fast. Does anyone else have any input?

imported_esp 20-May-2003 08:56 PM

clean your air filter if it's stock, or grab a bottle of STP fuel system cleaner. JUST ONE! and try again.

Replacement stock filters are 10 bucks at walmart or CDN tire.
STP fuel cleaner is $3.50

Or like blk93si said, get a TUNE UP.....what's the mileage on the car and how long has it been since your last tune up?

00 Civic SiR 20-May-2003 09:04 PM

Mileage is 71000.00. I had a tune up when I reached 50000.00.

What kind of kilometers per tank do other SiR drivers get?? The air filer is fine.

Nova_Dust 20-May-2003 09:05 PM

Ya, you should get somewhere above 400 if not more. To save gas, I often shift at 2000 RPM. If you are not in a hurry that is.

Raocorp 21-May-2003 12:01 AM

I put shell 91 octane gas in my car. I do about 300kms of various slow/fast driving. I fill my car at about 1/4 tank and it consistantly costs me $21.00-$23.00.

Oh by the way, I almost NEVER shift at 2000rpm. Its usually higher than that. Unless its winter time......then I shift at really low rpm's.

imported_peanut 21-May-2003 02:15 AM

i only used 94..octane and i get at least 500+ km with a full tank it cost me around 25-29 depend on the price

revhardSI 21-May-2003 02:37 AM

2000 SIR with i/h/e with esso 92 octane.

car has about 92000KM i get about 480 for full tank. and i rev like crazy.

Dude,

I too have a 00 SiR and i only use Sunoco 94 and the mileage i see is between 400 and 425. I have no clue how the other guys are getting more than that.

BTW... i only have 26000 on mine.

B16A_SiR 21-May-2003 01:59 PM

well i have 102000 + km on my 2000 SiR with I/H/E and i get around 450 - 500 now after i fixed my o2 and thats with reving to red line alot adn 300 on 3/4 a tank

The Hook 21-May-2003 02:52 PM

What is I/H/E? and man, i wish i could get that sort of mil. o2 sensor huh?

gleason73 21-May-2003 03:05 PM

I commute daily from Oakville to St. Cath...I'm getting around 500, if not more right after a tune up... coming up on 100,000 km

B16A_SiR 21-May-2003 03:20 PM

I = Intake
H = Headers
E = Exhaust

well dun change ur o2 unless its really busted like mine i was getting uunder 300 with full tank for the last month until i changed the o2 and its costs 230 aftermarket adn 420 OEM its expensive for a little thing thats the size of ur thumb

After the mods that you made to the car, how does it run and can you really notice a difference?

Also, how much did it cost you to make the mods?

SiR Power 21-May-2003 06:55 PM

I get around the same
