[HT] DIY Oil Catch Tank
Step1
========= I bought everything from homedepot, here is the list of materials. SBVKG10 Braided hose 10 feet Three hole Box 1 Three Hole Box Cover 1 Small Hose clamps 4 Brass Bush(1/2"x 1/4") 2 Barb Adapter(3/8" x 1/4") 2 Teflontape 1 roll http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...8HhEuVTzX5.jpg Buy yourself some dish scrubbing thingies at dollar store...or use foam...DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL ========== Step2 Seal taping all your adapters and screws. http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...8I7ZuvVLXd.jpg ========== Step3 It's a three hole box but you'll only need two, seal one hole using the cover that comes with the box. http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...bFlW7N2jyW.jpg =========== Step4 Almost done... http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...UkMB1KBrZc.jpg =========== Step5 Put foam or dish wipes in the box http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...b2kKDbw1fl.jpg =========== Step6 Seal the box and make sure it is not leaking any air. http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...yW9IJ62kbM.jpg =========== Step7 Installation, one pipe goes to your PCV and the other pipe goes to the intake manifold. Then find a place to mount the box. http://www.yorkbbs.ca/forum/attachme...GinXW5vYVB.jpg ============ Conclusion I am satisfied for the 20bucks modification, I felt more smoother in the low end, possibly better gas consumption. Doing this at your own risk, questions goes to b16a_2@msn.com ============ |

whats an oil catch can?
|
oil catch can does what it's named, collects the oil and moisture in the blow by gases that causes carbon and sludge build-up in the intake system and the engine.

These things are all the hype these days. I call it a HT trend.

these are prety much worthless on a near stock motor right??
|
yes, they really only become a concern when you pressurise an intake tract :naughty: or run massive compression... then the crankcase pressures are a concern and I think the PCV gets confused.
