I have a weird squealing noise coming from under the hood - actually sounds like it's coming from the distributor -
Any ideas what the heck this is?

My CEL is on also, thing is, I have no time till next week and I need to drive my car in the meantime - is it ok if I drive around with this for awhile? or am I running a huge risk??

you sure its coming from your distrubator?

well if its your distributor bearing squealing its a ticking time bomb. Mine went, it made a squealing for about a week, then it got really bad, so i bought a new one and changed it out. Its a good thing i did b/c it was totally seized when i removed it, and if i would have tried to start the car with a seized distributor that would have been bad news. Think about it, the distributor is attached to the cam. And i didn't have a CEL.

i never heard of those going ^^.. is it common with our cars?

zeeman is correct. swap it out.
