Teknotik is the place to call.

You can get a b18b or a b20 for under $2000.

B16a2's go for around 2600-2800$.

A complete engine+ B16 tranny, with installation and all other necessary parts will be more than 2G for sure. You are looking at almost double of that amount.

b18b is the gs, ls and rs, I believe.

b20 are in crv's. They are 2.0L opposed to the b18b's 1.8L. Both are non-vtec

there's someone selling a b16 swap for $2000 in the classifieds right now, comes with everything you would need.
And look to spend anywhere between $500-1000 for install.

How do you know if it's stolen. U can go to a shop and still be buying a stolen motor for 4g. If you buy a stolen motor can u get in ****?
do you guys think i'm better off buying a stock d16 and modding the hell out of that???!

Dont you have a d16 in your car?
Anyways, it depends on how much power you plan to make, but personally if i was aiming for 250-300hp tops, i would just stick with a d16. Any more and you will probably be better off with a b-series.

it seems like you don't have a clear direction of what you want or where you want to go yet... just a 2 cents, you should lay down a plan, list out your goals, do some research of the b16,b18,d16 and what you can do with those motors and how much do they usually go for.....

and for 2gs... it ain't gonna get you a decent b-series complete with installation... the installing at cheapest and best would cost you 600-800 for sure... unless you do it yourself!
a stock b16a will cost you around 2400-2800 for a decent one from a reliable supplier...... so u'll be looking about about 3000-3500 at best for sure! and for a b18, you're probably looking for about 2500 intalled? not too sure, but you can get a b18b with the ls tranny for somewhere below 2g, but then the installation again will be more than 500.... u'll probably have more fun with the 10-15 extra torque in the b18b or b20 than the b16 tho... but u'll lack the top

if you have 2g to spend and since you drive a 98 si, u should have a d16y8 motor... a d-series is actually not a bad motor to build if you research around and see what some of the d-series lovers have done and achieve... its not unrealistic to build a d-series to the same power or a bit more than a "stock" b16 with 2g

if you decide to build your d16, you can actually talk to some of our affiliates for advice and get some quotes... such as working for the block to the head...

and in terms of tranny, d-series engine uses d-series tranny, so you cannot slap a d-series tranny onto a b-series motor, it wouldn't work...

good luck...

thanks for everyone's input. its helping. My d16 is done though, I don't know how much longer it's going to last. If i do decide to keep the motor i would have to rebuild it. and if i go to rebuild it, its cheaper to buy a new d16.
I don't want crazy amount of horsepower, just someting decent. I would like to be close to 200 hp . My d16 dyno'd at 103whp so anything i get would be better. Right now I'm trying to decide between the b18 ls motor and the b16 sir motor. I saw on teknotik's site that a b16 out of a sir(92-95) is 900 and 2600 with installation i believe. the b18 ls motor is about 2500 installed... I think.
I'm waiitng on eric to reply back with a quote

call some other shops too.
teknotiks prices are actually pretty expensive.

Tiger Japan in scarborough sells much cheaper. I've bought like 4 engines from them and never had a problem.
