Don't worrie about that, Experience is something you gain. So the more you attend lapping day the more you will learn. If you do go to a lapping day you should ask people with similer cars on what tire pressures, etc. Also ask some one to take you around the track to see where it actually goes. My first lapping day was in the rain on street tires at Cayuga, There were puddles about the size of my car in some areas especialy in corners but I have never felt nervous abouit being behind the wheel of my car ever since.

As far a car prep goes, My car is stock. I do have an added on rear sway bar but to be honest I couldn't feel the difference I have gone to Autocrosses and found that there really isn't a big difference. I also have RA1 Toyos on the car. Most of my lapping days have been on street tires.

Ps my car is a 97 on stock struts and springs.
