I thought it was more than that to do properly.

"500 bux for the head
250 for the vtec conversion kit
150 for new ECU
100 Rod Bolts
maybe 500 for labor if you can't put a head on yourself or the press the rod bolts"

and that's in USD...i onno...just researching

Seen them go for somewhere around 6 bills. 1000 max. + ECU and solenoid

I agree on the shoes, very important.

When i did the b16 swap, they suggested solid polyurethane motor mount bushings. It was rough until they were broken in (about a month). The great thing is that my tires (falken 615s) won't bounce or spin when i dump the clutch at any rpm.

anyways thats not at the top of the list . i am thinking
bushings , koni yellows , some kinda slip on coil overs , sway bar = 1k
then after some more money is in the bank wheels and tires and brakes = 1k
then after all that maybe some more power but thats just me wishing who knows what will happen.

Ok I will answer this with some honesty (gonna hurt cause no one likes looking at the money they have spent!)..

The car I have now, is my second FULL DD/track **** build. When I say full.. I am referring to touching All the main areas:
- Brakes Budget = $1000 - Rotors, Pads, SS lines, Fluids, Larger M/C
- Tires/Rims Budget = $1000 - Knock-off rims + Azenis 615's 15"
- Suspension = $2000 - Full Adj. Coilovers, Adj. UCA's, 23mm RSB, LCA's, Bushings..
- Engine/Performance = $6000 - (Original plan was a B18C5 swap + all bolts ons)
- Interior Budget = $1500 - Recaro Seats (Not necessary but seats do help alot)
- Misc ...
For the first build I budgeted $5 grand and within 3 months I blew that number out of the water. For the second and current build I had budgeted $12 grand, if I hadn't done the damn K20 I wouldda been well within my budget but I'm now on my second K20 so yea my budget had gone right out of the window.

You can build a cheap budget built vehicle to kill some cones with, but if you want to be competitive (which is my main problem) then you have to heavily modify the cars to keep up with the big boys.

I'm hoping this car of mine get's retired to track only duty cause daily driving has become more of en effort then I like..

yea makes sense. That's what someone I talked to this week too. He told me to just track the b18b until it blows up before even thinking about a swap.

$5k is my budget right now too!! lolz
I've been skimping on everything and using JDM ITR parts. I know I should get coilovers but I gotta be prepared to spend more $$$ on suspension than the whole cost of my car!

but it sounds like you're in a different competition class...are you tracking head to head? or just time attacks?

Are there like "slow" class like B18Bs, D16s, D17s, that sorta thing?
There's no way my b18b could run against any real vtec cars.

^You would be surprised what a smaller motored Honda can do, depending on the type of racing .. the driver usually makes the biggest difference.

For me I like cone killing, and time attacks. And with Autocrossing they have a whole range of classes so you won't get stuck going against cars like mine. Unfortunately I'm in a rediculously competitive class but I still have fun as most the guys in my class trailer their cars to the events lol
