what car are you running? what mods?

I just want to know if $2800 is reasonable and what set ups everyone else is running. Budget so far:
D16y7 EK: $2400
ebay & used I/H/E: $300
Y8 IM: $60

i guess i'll run on stock rubber.

anybody have any input? i haven't bought the car yet, but i'm thinking if I can go with an EG and 1/2 my cost...

thx

Integras look so good, but they are so expensive (compared to civics...lol)

Good suspension and good rubber is important, IMO.

I/H/E will help out.

Going to the track is all about having fun. Doesn't matter if you have 70hp or 500hp.

Oh, one more thing. GOOD brakes! Rear disc conversion with a type-r brake booster will do wonders.

Nice!

So far, I have budgeted:

$1,500 EG hatch
$250 rear disc brake conversion (OEM)
$250 suspension (OEM)
$300 I/H/E
$2300

$500 for tires, gas, track fees....

yeah these are just part prices. i'm also going OEM b/c I have the manual so it will be easier to follow.

I will be DIYing it to the best of my ability. but this is my 1st car EVER...that I will do major work on...

What track setup do you run?

If I was on a budget, I wouldn't be focusing on power. I/H/E isnt going to net you all that much of a gain, and you can put the money elsewhere. Here's what I would do:

- $1500 EG
- $100 22mm rear swaybar
- $100 Beaks Subframe Kit
- $250-$300 Pads of your choice + Brembo blanks + good brake fluid
- $250 Hard Rubber Bushings
- $0 Weight Reduction

The rest you can spend on tires and other costs.

This is going to be far from an impressive setup, however it will allow you to test the limits of your car with your stock shock/springs, and get a better feel for where you want to end up later when you make spring choices.

The above setup would also set you up rather well for a set of coilovers or shocks/springs, because your bushings will be done, the swaybar is in place, and front brakes are taken care of.

That's probably the route I would take, but of course it depends what shape the car you buy will be in.

$500 for Falken 615's installed and balanced @ Tires23

They are road legal with track intentions.

A good way to look at something like this, is to consider the worst case scenario. Sounds stupid, but it's always better in the end (than the worst case scenario).

Great advice! I was originally going to invest in suspension first, but this setup gave me lots of ideas too. I think the progress of my build will depend more on availability of cheap parts...

what size is the front sway on the EG?
22mm seems pretty thick for the rear...so the point would be to decrease oversteer since the back is so rigid --> letting the outer rear wheel loose traction? am i making sense?? lolz
