Despite Charles' comments, my gut feeling says that if a good circuit track/drag strip opened up somewhere near to suburbia there would be a decrease in street racing provided it is cheap and accessible.

Which will probably never happen.

Pyro 26-Oct-2006 05:28 PM

well this is slightly off topic but.....

I don't agree or support street racing.....however....I have this problem.....where i crave speed...lol

I struggle to follow the speed limit, and well I'm not too interested in street racing other people.....i just like doing my own thing and getting from point A to B fast.....so going to a track is pointless for me

WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE ME? THINK ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE!

riiiight... becasue people who live on farms don't deserve peace and quiet.. in the country you can hear a car ripping it up much much further than in the city, since its open land and no man made features to filter out the noise... have you ever considered that point?

1sykcoupe 26-Oct-2006 07:20 PM

you can use that same point to justify not building airports. Your main concern is noise pollution? theres like 10 houses that would be affected by the noise.

They're gonna be bought out by land developers anyways

build a track in the GTA for what? so all the fckin kids can take their daddys car there for fun every now and then?

and plus.. this aint never gonna happen.. maybe you should spend some time gettin over it instead of postin on forums tryin to make this happen cause it never will.. where the hell are u gonna put a track in the GTA? with like 23403240392 people around and all the new houses being built.

Jay P 28-Oct-2006 05:16 PM

if ......

there was gonna ever be a track built in the GTA
it would be to attract NASCAR/F1 and for CART

pro racing revenue > what we would pay for friday night test and tunes

and knowing Toronto...it would be owned by MLSE and there would be 8 condo developements coming up with it too lol

we need one in guelph!!

imported_confuzed 12-Dec-2006 03:20 AM

We don't need any more tracks. More events or different types of events like Time Attack can be a good suggestion. Street racing sells papers and gets people to watch the news whenever its needed. Anyone who has a car thats worth racing already goes to the tracks that are available. Hobbies aren't cheap. This one comes with a few extra headaches too. Live with it. Everyone else does.

imported_My93Civic 21-Dec-2006 02:53 PM

Just wanted to know where and which dragstrips/tracks that are available around here?

The only one I know is TORONTO MOTORSPORTS PARK and thats a dragstrip only (they are having Test-N-Tune for the rest of the season for only $30 btw).

There is one in Shannonville where BattleEndless was setting up lapping days.

Any else?

mxqisit 21-Dec-2006 03:10 PM

TMP has a road course as well as the drag strip. And an oval too.

Other road courses:

Dunville Autodrome
Mosport (2 road courses and an oval)
Calabogie

Other drag strips:

St. Thomas
Shannonville

Nova_Dust 05-Jan-2007 09:14 AM

I wouldn't mind to hit Dunville this year, a high speed track so I heard.

more straights.....and i think it's closer than shannonville?

Nova_Dust 05-Jan-2007 02:38 PM

Closer is not a bad idea. But the straight would take a big toll on the pads. I am in need of new pads and rotors, otherwise, I will have to play conservertively this year :P

Dunville's a lot of fun. Kinda small in its current configuration (think Nelson at Shannonville)....but still technical enough that you can have fun.

Nova_Dust 14-Jan-2007 11:26 PM

Small is alright, for my skill, anything will work. I really need to learn and gain seat time.
