Racing

There are race tracks pretty much every 250km-ish or less apart starting from London all the way to Quebec. I think we have enough.
|
You can never have enough, thanks for your usefull reply,
|
I have been stressing and debating this for years now. even if they made a track somewhere to the north like caladon where its country land so noise dont bother the public. If they did open a track close i bet street racing would vertually die out edventually. But than again theres a lot of people who live for street racing and just do it for the thrill.

|
couldn't hurt...easier for the northern people to get to

If you visit the drag strip on a weekly bases, or do so at every major event, perhaps, you have earned the right to complain the distance and even so, if you have such a high interest rate in motorsport and have committed yourself to it this often, then you wouldn't have complained in the first place. That's my view on this "having a track closer in GTA to resolve the [street racing] issue". Organized street racing is underground gambling and the sense to live off the edge, being an outlaw. They will never go to the track and settle their race. Then you have your amateur heavy-footer who loves to tap their throttle whenever they get a chance in a straight line, they aren't gonna pay to do it in a limited 1/4 mile distance when they can do it anywhere, anytime. Race track is for people who are dedicated to motorsport with a passion. Not for someone to go because it is closer to home. With the pollution, it actually sucks to live near one. It is not a shopping mall. |
agreed, there are enough tracks. ppl who track their cars won't mind the slight drive. the passion for racing is strong.
|
Actually I do make the drive to cayuga and I dont feel that street racing will stop just because there is a drag strip near by. It was just my opinion that they should build a track in the gta, you people just write comments just to disagree.

But I haven't seen much reasoning behind your statement, or support, just because you think they should build one in GTA, but why? You certainly haven't answered that. You and I both agree that having one extra race track in GTA won't have any affection on street racing. So, why build another to increase more pollution? |
Originally posted by Zyepher Yeah....right we all know they arnt open on wed night at 2am ready to go..street racers want streets |

No i don't think so so what makes you think for your convenience of driving less to Cayuga , someone else has to suffer piece and quiet so you can drive less to somewhere else and drag your car. Also have to agree, street racing is street racing, You see someone lined up at the lights, if you street race your going to try to feed it to them, you won't roll down the window and be like ' hey you want to race over at so and so drag strip' Also opening up a strip closer to GTA means more $$$ which means your $20 dollars all you can drag all day will become more like $40 dollars |
Average home in GTA is 300,000 dollars. Imagine the square footage of a drag strip and its buffer zone (vegetation, land mass, green space, parking).
It is gonna be one expensive drag strip. |
We'll thank you for your feedback. You brought up some things I did not consider.
|
kayuga is around only because it was an unused army runway.
|
dont have it in GTA. have it sumwhere up in like caledon where theres farms. i dont really care im jus sayin. if i really wanted to i'd jus go to cayuga. at least they're making it accessible for everyone to race.
|
Despite Charles' comments, my gut feeling says that if a good circuit track/drag strip opened up somewhere near to suburbia there would be a decrease in street racing provided it is cheap and accessible.
Which will probably never happen. |
well this is slightly off topic but.....
I don't agree or support street racing.....however....I have this problem.....where i crave speed...lol I struggle to follow the speed limit, and well I'm not too interested in street racing other people.....i just like doing my own thing and getting from point A to B fast.....so going to a track is pointless for me WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE ME? THINK ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE! |

you can use that same point to justify not building airports. Your main concern is noise pollution? theres like 10 houses that would be affected by the noise.
They're gonna be bought out by land developers anyways |
build a track in the GTA for what? so all the fckin kids can take their daddys car there for fun every now and then?
and plus.. this aint never gonna happen.. maybe you should spend some time gettin over it instead of postin on forums tryin to make this happen cause it never will.. where the hell are u gonna put a track in the GTA? with like 23403240392 people around and all the new houses being built. |
if ......
there was gonna ever be a track built in the GTA it would be to attract NASCAR/F1 and for CART pro racing revenue > what we would pay for friday night test and tunes and knowing Toronto...it would be owned by MLSE and there would be 8 condo developements coming up with it too lol |
^+1
|
we need one in guelph!!
|
We don't need any more tracks. More events or different types of events like Time Attack can be a good suggestion. Street racing sells papers and gets people to watch the news whenever its needed. Anyone who has a car thats worth racing already goes to the tracks that are available. Hobbies aren't cheap. This one comes with a few extra headaches too. Live with it. Everyone else does.
|
Just wanted to know where and which dragstrips/tracks that are available around here?
The only one I know is TORONTO MOTORSPORTS PARK and thats a dragstrip only (they are having Test-N-Tune for the rest of the season for only $30 btw). There is one in Shannonville where BattleEndless was setting up lapping days. Any else? |
TMP has a road course as well as the drag strip. And an oval too.
Other road courses: Dunville Autodrome Mosport (2 road courses and an oval) Calabogie Other drag strips: St. Thomas Shannonville |
I wouldn't mind to hit Dunville this year, a high speed track so I heard.

Closer is not a bad idea. But the straight would take a big toll on the pads. I am in need of new pads and rotors, otherwise, I will have to play conservertively this year :P
