^My scenario is a little different. My digital camcorder is a Samsung, and it comes with an external lens (with built in mic).

Anyway I just had the main unit closed and tucked in my door panel pocket, with the external lens/mic taped to the roof. After a few laps I did put tape over the mic but it made no difference. If I turn on the external lens then it will use the external mic, so I can't use the visual from the lens, yet record audio from the main unit sitting inside the car.

I'll use a piece of wind noise filter (aka a piece of foam) taped over the mic hole, and see how that works.

SMG: the cord I'd say a bit over a meter? I can have the external lens taped to the top of the windshield at the center, and the main unit in the door panel pocket (where you put maps, etc). Even then I still have a lot of slack left.

Anyway can't upload them to youtube, think I have to decode them or something
