B16 vs B20b ??? Who will win?
OK, heres the deal:
1996 Honda civic coupe Si equipped with a B20B totally gutted with a racing seat
VS
1997 Honda civic coupe Si equipped with a B16A passenger and rear seats removed.
State ur opinion on which you will think will win. Both cars are all motor.

thats not necessarily the deciding factor. yes higher redline means later shifts, but the trq in the b20 will make it go through the gears faster then it comes down to top end where the b20 lacks.
there's so many things that can decide, it's really hard to tell just by typing in what everyone thinks. both motors have there advantages and disadvantages. take it to the track to make the final decision.

B16.
As the b16 is reaching peek power at high rpm, the b20 has to shift...
b16 would then pull ahead, and even know the b20 might climb quick through rpm, the b16 is already a little bit ahead...x 4 gears=faster trap...
Also once b16 reaches 8000rpm and shifts, its STILL in vtec as long as its red lined...so it quickly rapes through the gears...
Where the b16 looses is low rpm...no torque...
b20 might pull harder at the start...
I still put the money on b16...

OK, now just wondering one thing...what if the b20b was a b20b vtec? Then what? Cuz he says he has a b20b , but he never mentioned if it was a vtec conversion or not. You guyz still think i can take him if he has the b20b vtec buildup?
I think it'll be a good race. 50/50 odds. Or i could be wrong and he could be serving my *** on a silver platter back to me.
Heres the latest:
B16 4 voted B16 will own a b20b's ***, give him a wedgy and rub undies with "skid marks" all over his face
AND
B20 2 voted B20 will WOAH PA the *** cheeks of the B16 and make him say "I like sweaty men with g-strings and bologne up their bum"
The decision will be made on the first day Cayuga opens (whenever that is).

By the way it sounds hes got more then a stock b20....sounds like hes not telling you the truth...
Just ask whats been done before you get your *** handed to you..
Strip as much weight out of your car as you can....get rid of everything...
Your worst enemy is weight...

Now that vtec is in the picture
b20 all the way
Think about it
both have vtec
b20 = 2.0liters
b16= 1.6 liters
That's approx 400cc = much more torque
a b20b won't rape you as much as the b20z would (assuming stock internals)
as the b20z has higher compression
if this "other guy" has a vtecb20, be prepared to lose
Love to see the race if it actually happens

it's VTEC not vtech not v-tech not v-tec just VTEC......
I was also looking into the VTEC B20 and it still has a lower redline (on the honda hybrid site) the red line was something like 7200 and torque was falling quickly after 6000... just my own opinion.. but the b16 is still making power (from the dyno's I've seen) when it hit's it's red line ... b16 is still my guess....although there are still tons of factors that only the track will decide who gets there *** handed to them

Bring on the Type R with my b16!!!! hehehe....lol.
We'll see who will win! Anyone on here got a type r that wants to challenge a b16?
Hey 90 ls ...i don't know much about the b20 but other ppl say it would be a close race if it were just a regular b20b.
B20b vtec or non...i'll still race civic2drcoupe first day cayuga opens.
