waste gate dump tube?
#2
nope,
A dump tube is a nice to have mod. Basically when you reach full boost your waste gate will open and allow any pressure beyond your set boost to scream down a custom 1-2 ft exhaust tube right off the turbo setup.
Most people have the waste gate flow this pressure back to the normal exhaust system.
You will pretty much sound like a muscle car when you reach full boost. I have one on my eclipse and i love it. Scares the **** out of most people lol
It also helps with boost creep caused by a restricitve exhaust

Need a little more info:
What turbo are you running? What waste gate are you running? Is it internal or external?
I'm assuming it's external cause you don't need a separate dump tube from an internal waste gate, it just dumps into the down pipe off the turbo.
If your running an external waste gate, it doesn't matter. Can dump to atmosphere or dump back into the down pipe after the turbo. If you dump it to atmosphere, make sure it dumps well away from anything so that when the flames come spewing out they don't melt or catch anything on fire.
Hope that answers your question.

ya, you'll at least want some sort of pipe coming off your wastegate outlet so that it directs the exhaust gases away from the turbo inlet, you don't wanna suck in spent exhaust gases into your turbo. Its best if it goes down under your oil pan to help avoid going inside your passenger cabin.
Now open loop vs closed loop dumptube, open loop (meaning dumps to atmosphere) is illegal b/c its an exhaust leak, but will make more power. Closed loop (meaning goes back into your downpipe or exhaust somewhere) is the legal way to do it and will be quieter, but the extra exhaust gases being dumped back into your downpipe can cause turbulence and rob a little power.
I have mine open loop on my car. I'd say 60-70% of people who's cars i've tuned have it open loop as well.
If you do go closed loop, try to have the dumptube connect to your down pipe as far away from the turbo as possible. Also try to have it as smooth as possible, like don't have a 90 degree right into your downpipe as the gases won't flow so well.
