Boost is boost regardless if it is from a supercharger or turbocharger.

An engine with a turbo will make more power from the same amount of boost vs. a supercharger because a supercharger uses (robs) power from the engine to function, where as a turbo does not.

It depends on how much more power you want to know if the stock internals can handle it. How much more power do you want?

Zeeman (Andrew) at HiVelocity tuning can help you with installation, setup and tuning.

It should be able to handle anywhere between 250-300whp safely on stock internals. Reliability and longevity will depend strongly on how good the components are that you use, how well it is put together, how well it is tuned and how hard you drive it or abuse it...

i'd go turbo over supercharged any day.

A typical s/c'd typeR makes about 220whp @ 7psi

A typical turbo'd typeR makes about 270-300whp @ 7psi dependin on the setup.

And if the correct size turbo is used, you can have a quick-spooling setup that won't run out up top and give you a nice wide power band.

Example, our MR2 with 4agze 1.6L with a TD04-13T starts producing boost as low as 2500rpm, peak boost hits at 3000 and holds steady all the way to the limiter currently set at 7500. Compressor maps show this setup is capable of producing over 20psi boost from 3000 to 7500. Currently running about 13psi.

For reference, when the motor was supercharged we maxed that setup out at about 170whp at 13psi boost. It made around 200hp at 8psi after converting to a turbo setup and now produces ???hp at 13psi from the turbo...

Choose the right turbo and you'll never go back to superchargers again.
