i dont get what you mean by " is it worth building a lsvtec and a low si setup'?

anyways you can build the head and go lsvtec or just striaght ls is fine on boost too, one wont "hold" more boost than the other..the difference being the lsvtec with boost will make more HP and trq with the same amount of boost as the striaght LS motor.

just go LS turbo. If its not fast enough, then do a Vtec conversion, or up the boost a little.

My thoughts exactly. You'll probably have a hard time controlling a mildly boosted LS to begin with. Seriously, going from a 140hp car to a 200 and up car is a huge difference.

LS V-TEC with boost will be relativley reliable if its built and tuned proplery. Abd if your asking which is better, LS VTEC or LS VTEC with boost, the answer should be obvious.

Just remember, you gotta pay to play. If you buy low end parts and do a low-end build you will only get low end results.

My recommendation for an entry level LS VTEC Turbo setup is:

-> LS block ofcourse with a B-series VTEC head (common configuration for example would be a B18B block with a PR3 B16 Head for example)
-> Spend the little bit extra and use VTEC pistons. They may have slightly higher compression (which is bad for boost), but they have deeper valve guides so you are alot less likely to pop the head if you get carbon build-up or use high lift cams.
If you never plan on upgrading cams and are on a budget, then the LS pistons will due, but wont offer optimal results.
-> Get a proper turbo, not that eBay junk. Those cheap knock offs have lots of known problems, such as the unsupported exhaust manifold flanges are known to crack, the no name turbos spew oil after about 6 months and the wastegates have been known to stick.
A good setup to use would be to get an internally gated garrett T25 or even better a T28 BB, and use a reputable manifold. Usually they higher end manifolds have better welds and thcker flanges to prevent cracking. The Yonaka intercooler kits are usually pretty good and are fairly cheap so you can go wrong with em.
-> Lastly, TUNE YOUR SETUPWHEN ITS DONE!! I find most people just want to bolt the parts on and go, then when the setup blows a hole in the piston the turbo becomes the enemy. With a good tune you will make power and reliability.

If there is anything I left out or if you need more info feel free to PM me
