GReddy 15g turbo - 1992-1995 D16Z6

Hey, I'm new to the turbo scene and I was wondering, what kind of WHP would one expect a GReddy 15g turbo to make on a 1992-1995 D16Z6 in a HB? Like say I was hitting it at 10psi? Intercooled. (Johnny Racecar if that makes a difference)

200WHP? realistic?

it depends on the supporting mods.

If you have a stock exhaust system then 200whp will prolly take more than 10psi, but with a decent free flowing exhaust and a tune 10psi should be roughly 70-100whp more.

I would honestly go with a slightly bigger turbo b/c the 15g runs out of steam by 5500rpms or so and will actually drop a few psi from the 7psi that its prolly internally gated at. The nice thing about the 15g though is that it spools up quickly even on the 1.6L SOHC engine and with a nice electronic boost controller you can keep the boost steady at all rpms. With a manual boost controller you'll be able to turn the boost up to 10psi, but it'll still drop down a few psi after 5500-6000rpms or so.

Getting 200whp out of a d16z6 is realistic and safe IMO with a good tune.

Hot damn that's the kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks!

I think I'd be runniing Apexi AVCR boost controller, Hondata S200, and P28.

I'm newly impressed with SOHC if this thing can make 200 without blowing up in 100KM.

It will not blow up if you have a good tune on the engine.

I'd recommend going to an authorized Hondata dealer, which the only one in Ontario is Neetronics.

Do you already have the hondata?
If not, i'd save the money and get tuned with Neptune b/c there isn't any extra hardware that you have to purchase if you go to an authorized Neptune dealer.
From my experiences tuning cars, i'd say Neptune is just as good as hondata in terms of tuneability, extra features (especially for boosted cars) and end results, and is even better b/c the end user doesn't need to purchase any extra hardware before paying the tuner to tune their car.

What are you going to use for injectors and a fuel pump. My recommendations would be at least 440cc injectors and a walbro 255lph fuel pump.

Don't forget about spark plugs either. On a boosted car you will want at least 1 step colder, depending on your power goals. For 200whp I'd say a set of 7's would be fine (6's are stock for the d16z6)/

You mean the one in Oakville???

559 Speers Road Unit 4
Oakville, Ontario ??

Eeek, that's a tad bit on the far side to go. How often would be recommended to get your turbo tuned? And roughly how much does it cost? This shop seems pretty hard core.

I'm actually looking to get another eg and this one came up so I'm considering it but I've never really considered the turbo route, (hence why I know so little). I'm trying to figure out how much the on going cost would be. Sound like a lot of fun though...

Thanks so much for the helpful advice.

PM ton1c and tell him what your old username used to be and he might be able to import it and you'll get all your posts back.

Ya, neetronics is in oakville now. Tuning is something that really only needs to be done once or twice, unless you change a bunch of things as the seasons go by.
Tuning ranges from $300-1000 at the local shops around here, from what i've seen.
