The best clutch for a Turbo-D??

I just need some opinions which clutch is good for my turbo-d. I have Exedy stage 1 clutch w/ lightweight flywheel in my car right now and its slipping when its in full boost(14lb). when I just installed the cltuch to my car, tires are spinning crazy on 1st and 2nd gear w/ 14lbs of boost. So im planning getting a better clutch. Let me know.

Thanks in advance guys!!

it's not the clutch, thats a lot of boost for the low gears!!!! traction is your issue.

hence why i got a programmable boost controller. Apex i .... you can program how much boost per gear. 8-10 in first, 12 in 2nd, and up from there per gear. a clutch wont stop the tires from spinning in first/second

I'd go with a clutch tex disk from Euro Drive(do a goole search on Euro drive). I have one and it handles 225 whp with ease. Should be great for your application.

+1

to23, what boost controller do you currently have? Boost per gear is God's gift to FWD.

We have a Stage Two Six Puck clutch capable of handling 285 lb/ft, which should provide more then enough holding power. Prices are too competitive to list, so just PM me if you are interested.

We use the same line of clutches on our 400whp B18C5 Civic, 400whp S2000, and 350whp D16Y8 Civic.

unless the clutch is ceramic most manufacturers recommend taking it easy for the first 1000kms. Meaning don't rev past 4000rpms, no boost, no power shifting and try not to slip the clutch too much. You can NOT just drive on the highway for the 1000kms, it has to be city driving switching through gears a lot.

If its a ceramic clutch, rev it up to 5000rpms and drop the clutch like you stole the car. Do this a bunch of times.

Should I replace my flywheel too or just the clutch?

thats your call, the flywheel won't really make anymore power, but a lighter one will let the engine rev up a little faster. If you don't get a new one make sure to at least resurface the old one before installing the new clutch.

They dont make clutches based on boost, they do make then based on TQ though.
figure your tq (or tq goal) then buy the appropriate clutch.

For break in: disc yes require break in, puck clutches for the MOST part dont. use manufacture recomendations if/for break in procedures.

Read the discription, it'll tell you if its organic or ceramic.

OK, its a metallic type material and break-in periods in 300miles 3000-3500rpm. Is that sounds reasonable break-in periods?

I wouldnt say hes a retard i had a stage 3 ebay clutch and that thing slipped just around 300whp/260tq.
yes hes got the wrong clutch for his setup but you have no idea what he had previous maybe he got the stage 1 for an oem replacement, then boosted after the fact. spinning the tires and a sliping clutch are 2 very different things.

To the OP what kind fo power are you making? and do you have plans to upgrade?

I got the clutch from one of the affiliates in the D-series.org website. People who used their clutches with their turbo D16 were pretty happy. It took me about 1-2 months searching for a decent and around my budget clutch and I decided to get this companys own clutch they sell. I had a exedy stage 1 ceramic clutch with boost.

Zeeman tuned my car to 14lbs. Here is my setup:

z6 stock head
z6 honed and notched block
arp head studs
Vitara standard piston
Eagle rods
450cc injectors
Chipped P28 with Crome
Walboro fuel pump
3 bar map sensor
t3 turbonetics
WG turbonetics
Greddy type s BOV
Ligthweight flywheel
Customized catch can
acl bearings
ngk spark plugs and wire
3" DP
3" high flow cat
2.5" catback

I say the motor is putting out 220-260hp using 94 octane. Upgrades, get it tuned to 20lbs then go to the track.

what i would do is get it tuned with Neptune, and use its electronic boost controller feature and have boost by gear/RPM. I've even got some boost solenoids kicking around that you need to use with Neptunes EBC feature.

I've made well over 300whp on a 2.5" exhaust before, so i wouldn't really waste your time with a 3" exhaust.
