Air Filter for Turbo

Just wondering what sort of air filters people are running on their turbos.

I need to buy an air filter for my tubo over the winter and figured I'd ask around here for some input. Mine has a 3" inlet.

Some pics of yours, prices paid or a link would be great aswell.

Thanks.

run the AEM dry filter, no need for the oils and such and clean up is as easy as rinsing it under the tap. around $60-$80 i believe

Has/Does anyone run the mushroom filters? If so which one and where did you get it. I'm kind of lacking room for a large cone style filter, about 3.5" until my headlight assembly comes into play.

you can get K&N filters in every shape and size.

I had to order a special small one for my car b/c i've only got about 4-5" from the turbo inlet to my frame rail and it needed to be a 4" inlet.

I was on the K&N site. Did you have yours custom made or was it just one out of the vast selection of filters. Everyone seems to be fine intil it comes to the height restriction I have.

Would it be fine just to run a 3" 90 degre elbow off the turbo facing downward and attach the filter to that. I'm sure there is enough room that way to buy pretty much anything.

I'd keep the filter in a higher location on the vehicle, rather than a lower position, if possible.

My past experience with mounting filters in different locations showed that the closer to the ground the filter was, the more crap it sucked up, and it got dirtier much quicker.

Since it sounds like your turbo is mounted pretty high (if you're running into the head light assembly near the turbo intake) then you'd probably be fine with a turn-down pipe and filter pointing down.

To get my custom K&N filter, I went to crapy tire and they have a K&N book where you can look up all the different sizes. Write down the size you need, then look it up in the book. They may not make the exact filter you need, but they will have one pretty close to it.

Found one on the K&N site that will work. Not sure how I didn't see it sooner, but found one none the less.

Thanks for the help.
