Arrow Zc Vtec Build! " Mini Me"

HEY GUYS, IM GONNA BE BUILDING A ALL MOTOR ZC VTEC ENGINE. WHAT NUMBERS DO YOU THINK I WILL PUT DOWN ON THE DYNO?

I WILL BE USING:
-ZC BOTTOM END
-PM7 DOHC ZC PISTONS
-PM7 DOHC ZC RODS
-D16Y8 SOHC VTEC HEAD
-SKUNK 2 INTAKE MANIFOLD
-B18A1 THROTLE BODY
-8 POUND FLYWHEEL
-B18A1 FUEL INJECTORS
-COLD AIR INTAKE
-LIGHT WEIGHT CRANK SHAFT PULLY
-P28 ECU WITH THE HONDATA S100 CHIP
-FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND GUAGE
-95 CIVIC SI TRANSMITION
* AND OFCORCE NEW GASKETS AND RINGS*

Maybe 130HP tops?

I assume your using the ZC SOHC bottem end. I would check and make sure the DOHC ZC parts fits first on the SOHC block.

D16A1 Pistons fit like a charm, I have read. They boost the compression alot. As for power... That is a tough one. You may hit somewhere between 120-130whp.

THANKS GUYS,
I FOUND OUT THAT THE PISTONS AND RODS FIT IN TO THE SOHC ZC BOTTON END, BUT THE CRANKSHAFT WONT, WHICH IS AWSONE! AND THE REASON IM BUILDING A SOHC VTEC ENGINE IS BECAUSE I HAVE A BET WITH A BUDDY, HE SAIS THAT A D-SERIES CAN'T PULL ON A B-SERIES (B16A), "ILL PROVE HIM WRONG!" i hope.....

DO U THINK THAT IF I SHAVE THE HEAD MORE THAN 10 000 OF AN INCH IT WILL GIVE MORE POWER OR MORE PROBLEMS?

You probably could build an NA D series that would pull on a STOCK b16. But that would cost you more money than just swapping in a B16....not really worth it just to say "yeah my d series pulled on your b16".

If your already going to be running higher compression pistons then you may not want to shave down the head. You'll have to search around and find out what you can and can not do. People shave stock B16 heads down by .033" (33 thou) with the stock pistons which bumps the compression up significantly. But I'm not as familiar with d series motors.

MY OTHER BUDDY HAS THIS HONDATUNNING MAGIZENE AND THERE IS AN ARTICLE IN IT AND IT IS CALLED B-SERIES VS D-SERIES AND THEY BUILT A D-SERIES THAT PUSHED MORE HP AND MORE FTLBS OF TORQUE THAN A STOCK B16A. so you plan to spend all that money and only be able to pull on a b16? everyone and their moms have b16 in their civics. even IF you can pull on a b16, what about gsr/type r/k-series? i dont think any of those are possible without force induction

i have heard stories about d15b heads on a d16 block which ends up pullin on b16. I donno how true it is, but i want to find out. I am thinking about doing it, but dont wanna **** up my engine. So i wanna learn more first.

I can recall skimming over this artical a while ago. Can't remember the mods done, but it was an all motor D series, and put out like 160hp.

It just seems like a waste to spend so much on a d series just to pull on the baby of the b series. If you spent that same amount of money on the b16 it would be MUCH faster than the d. Guy make over 200whp from a b16 without too much trouble.

I would just be careful what you do with your money. The answer is YES a d series can be built to beat a stock b16. No I don't think it's worth it. But to each his own.

And PLEASE don't get me started on Nitrous. SO LAME.

I'm just the messenger here, but the article stated that the modded D16 make more hp than a stock B16, for half the cost of doing a B16 swap.
