what D seires engine would be best?
I was thinking of swaping a D series engine into my 89 civic.
what engine ewould be best a D16y8, D16z6 or a D17A2? |
well what are you going to do with it? just a swap and keep it that way? turbo? build n/a?

i have a z6 that was just turboed and it ran great. the only thing is you need to get it tuned asa you get it in the car.
i do have the z6 still and it is for sale only looking for $200 located in kitchener |

I would say the JDM D15B look up some of the spec's... i have the same motor ... run's like a champ.. More power than the Z6

If you have the knowledge and know how to pull an engine out, go to the scrap yards cause i see a couple of them everytime i go. And you only pay 75 for the tranny and 75 for the block and head. Or i got a D16y8 with a blown headgasket lying around in the shed if you want it.

you wont find Z6 at tiger japanese but you will find lots of zc vtec which are the exact same thing... buying a used z6 classified will most likely have more kms where from tiger or Toronto JDM will have a lot less. either way though you never really know what your gonna get...

i'd say go for a JDM D15B, but its pretty much the same as the z6

U need to go D16A6 The DOHC zc. That's the fast 1. None of the above is fast enough. The d16z6 is not that bad, but go with zc. Either do it right or don't do it.

Any D-engine can be built for speed.
But its a proven fact that non vtec sohc d's can handle mre power from a building point of view. There are less componets then vtec engines and can handle bigger cams. I built my sohc non vtec ZC from the ground up with a high compression ratio and its making 161whp after tune. |
