Urgent! 99 EK Radiator Problems
Hey guys,
It looks like the radiator is leaking ... and losing a lot of coolant fast.
From what I've seen, its not the hoses, but rather the seal from the core to the top plastic cover ... (where the cap is).
Is this a known issue?
And the other question is, where is a good place to buy a replacement? I've got a price for a OEM replacement for $135 + TAX.

Radiators usually leak from there, so I guess you can say its a known issue. Honda rad's are usually good though.
Anyways, any rad shop or aftermarket supplier can supply a rad. Call around find the best price.. You can probably find one for 80-90$

you don't need to put anyting on the bottom brass fittings if you use it on a 5spd car. I took those fittings right out of the rad when i put mine in, coolant won't leak out of there, dont' worry.

Thanks for all the help guys ... i picked the one from parts source and it is the automatic one ... (i have a 5 spd)

automatic Radiator
Yes it's true, you can remove it or keep it like that.
I put a hose to protect it, because i will use this oil cooling circuit later, when i will install a small turbo set up.
The automatic model is realy thicker..OEM or Jobber.
The original OEM manual radiator was so thine.
The Civic Desol radiator is a double core, fit perfectly in 96-2000
It is another cheap alternative....when higher cooling volume is required, example with a B serie engine inside, turbo etc...

yup, i've never really found the need to use anything more than a dual core half-rad when boostin cars, my turbo b16 has been fine with the dual core, and this car is used for drag and daily driving year round. It did however heat up a little while crusing with the 13 year old stock single core rad after i boosted the b16, so i spent the $90 for the dual core from a local parts store here in hamilton.
My crx also uses a dual core half-rad and it had a built turbo b16 in it for years, but now will have a single cam (mini-me) turbo. It does take a little more work however to fit them into the 88-91 civics/crxs, but works just fine once fitted properly.

yes, the stock manual tranny radiator is VERY thin ... i will post pics tomorrow .. and the one i picked up is about twice as thick ... wish i knew about the delsol radiator before i got this one , would have got that instead, but nevertheless, it should still be better then stock ...
