spark plugs recommendations??

platinums/iridiums work, but they're way more expensive than copper-cores (v-power), they last twice as long, but cost twice as much.
You can grab a set of v-powers from part source/crappy tire for like $15 and should be replaced every 2 years or 50,000kms.

I went to Midas, and they told me that my car (2002 Acura 1.7EL) uses coils (thus no spark plug wires)
which don't need to be replaced
is this true?
Because I wanted to put in some better spark plugs and they're like "no you don't need to"

thats true, no plug wires...but you do need to replace the spark plugs periodically, they are a maintainance item.
Don't think by putting in some Bosch 4+ or NGK platinums are gunna make your car faster. But replacing worn spark plugs can/will bring back any lost performance/fuel economy.
