NOOB to honda swap question

hey there as the title reads, i am a honda noob. basically i am planning on doing a budget build to get a civic track car. its basically a competition against another friend. i was planning on getting a 1991 civic hatch. i was just wondering what engine i could swap to make a great track car that would be fast. im doing the suspension swap also but i will post that in suspensions.

any suggestions would be great. as of now im thinking of doing a b16 swap.

thanks

how long do you want the car to last? cuz you can get a B18 and just blast it with a ton of nitrous and it'll go fast for a couple of hours.

the best thing u can do for a budget under 5 is get a gsr swap installed clean and mint and build it as a na motor.. or get a b16,b18,b20 and drop a turbo but if u think of dropping turbo u gotta do upgrades and u gotta get someone that will do it right..not a sloppy job and it will be reliable and track ready.... i personally ..i would just go for a stock gsr and

how's the suspension? if it's a track, then it must handle well

they are vtec, they don't bolt right in on factory mounts, a b18c? gsr = 170hp, itr = 195hp
overall the the ITR (Integra Type-R) is out of your price range. I believe you'd be better off with a properly tuned B18c GSR or a B16a (on factory mounts) on boost

Umm if you are handy a H22 is a cheap (750 + tranny) and aquick motor.... the only prob is that the mount kit is not as common and the shifter is harder to set up becuase it cable not the usual linkage..

im stuck in the same boat as you.

I've looked heavily into the H22 and the B20vtec. The B16 would be fine, but they're normally around the same price.

I like torque

I think 5g that includes the 91 Civic plus the swap will be tight enough, then you need suspension work, brake upgrade and tire upgrade. Without these three, your power is useless on the circuit. All these things added together can easily go over 5g, unless you do all the work yourself. There are also fluids you need to consider.

A half cage will also aid tremendously for a track vehicle.

I would however, look for a track vehicle that is for sale for around 5g, and give yourself a maximum cap of say, 5500 dollars.

if you just want a track vehicle grab a d16 for cheap, upgrade some internals for cheap and boost with a junkyard T3. it's cheap and gonna go faster than more expensive b series engines will go n/a.

I think if you want a reliable track car under 5g's you should go built d series or b16. With those options they are pretty cheap and really easy to swap in.
