Need Help ASAP OIL LIGHT!

I was low on oil filled it up to the hash marks. Went to work and came home, car drove fine! Had a huge rain storm over night, car parked outside. The next morning, went to start the car, OIL LIGHT comes on (stays on). The car starts, drove it down the street, car stalls, lights and every thing still worked. I went and checked the car for leaks and oil, every thing looked fine still full with oil. Start it again and drove down the street, car stalls again, did this for 2 blocks till i got back home. Its an EG with a B18C. Please help. Thank you.

the oil light came on in your EG type R and all you did was add some oil... somebody take this car away from him.

Edit.. What is this doing in the DO IT YOURSELF forum.

moved. FYI, it was posted in the wrong forum and would have been locked in that forum.

yeah, your oil pump failed (or debris blocked the oil passages), then you decided to drive your car with no oil pressure, and now your cam is prolly scored and your crank is also damaged too. your engine is garbage now and needs a rebuild. it's time to tear it down and see how much damage you did.

Okay guys.. lets not jump the gun. I recently had a volvo come in like this.

Turns out the oil pressure switch has just crap and his coil was on the way out.

WHat I would recommend is doing an oil pressure test. Take out the pressure sensor, put in a pressure gauge and comapre with spec.

Your engine might be toast, but run some tests to verify it first.

the simplest explanation that requires the least assumptions is usually right. the oil light + stalling is explained best with a single problem. two independent problems occurring at the same time is less likely than one catastrophic problem. but you're totally right, doing the easiest tests 1st is the smart thing to do.
