lots of problems

My car has no power at all. Battery has power, all fuses in the engine bay have power starter and alternator have power, but when I turn the key it is like I have no battery in the car. I have just changed my ignition switch and harness and the car started and drove but as soon as I turned it off I had no power.

weak ground? relay? short? take a cable from the battery to the starter see if it cranks and starts. Also could be starter it could be alot of things lol. Is it getting fuel?

check and clean your ground wire. I bet there a build of rust and crap on your terminals.

He pretty much checked all his wiring, his dash is completely apart and he changed the starter on Sunday, it started then died, no power after that

I know he switched the ECU yesterday to another one, didn't work. Was going to look at my car to see my wiring to give him some clues. We will be at the meet and I will mention to him you guys are answering his posts

Maybe your battery died? A dead battery can still read 12v, but when a heavy draw in ampere ie. starter is applied then the battery flops on itself. A quick way to load test your battery is to get a DVM. Test for DC Volts at the battery, have a friend turn the key and watch how low your voltage goes. Anything below 9.9v IMO a dead battery.

Unless the new starter you got is a bad build (it happens a lot) and draws too much ampere? Maybe?

We just got home from the meet Bruno. He is now putting the car back together. He is going to see how it goes for the next few days. So far, the car has started consistantly with no problems. I will let him know you are offering your services if needed!

bbarbulo 13-Aug-2008 10:12 PM

well hope all goes well, but I'm willing to help anytime.

Thanks for all the input and offes but as of right now the car is running. It took 15 days alot of swearing and changing wires, grounds and parts but it finally seems to be okay.

pinkcivicchick 14-Aug-2008 06:58 AM

waho!

driven905 14-Aug-2008 07:38 AM

jeff...what caused the problem though? fuel related?

Everything was electrical. I ended up changing all the grounds in my engine as well as there connecting spots and hardware. I changed my starter, all fuses and relays. Pulled out my dash and checked the main harness for continuity, changed my ignition switch and harness and a few other little things.

Sounds like a headache.

It was probably just a weak starter chassis ground. Those are pretty common..
