just a noob question plz help

alright boys and girls i have a question i was thinking of purchasing a 93 hatch .. and swapping the motor .. the problem is dont know what motor i was thinking about a gsr or like a b16 or k20 or even a h22a jdm ... i cant decide this one guy told me he dropped a h22 in a hatch and he had chipped the computer and said he had double vtec.. hitting once at 5k and then again at 7k i didnt no if it was true i asked a honda techy and he said it was probly a iab or iba.. so i have no clue what motor to drop in and all motors will be jdm not usdm .. please help thanks

double vtec ftw! if you can get triple vtec it is even better.

seriously, just go to a shop that specializes in engine swaps and talk to them. tell them what you want out of the car and they should be able to recommend something.... but atleast take someone you know and trust that knows atleast a little about cars.

what i suggest is that you get a gsr is is the best bang for you buck. h22 oil pan will hit the ground and cause unnecessary problems. and tell that guy that every vtec car hits vtec three times after 5500 unless you have a vtec controller. if you go to a shop that is not trust worthy then they might try and rip you off and give you somthing that cost to much and not what you expected at all. try going to the shop with some of your own reserch so you dont look like a complete noob when walking in there and you dont get taken advantage of.

I'll give u a few options :

1. D15bvtec boosted
2. B16 with gs-R cams boosted
3. B16 with bolt-ons, JUN 3 n/a <--- It's been proven time and time again... this set-up makes Crazzy power... 170-200whp. ( Un-ported head and stock bottom end!!! )
4. B18c5 Type-R - good set of headers, full exhaust system and an intake.
If it's a 98+ Spec should push close to 195ish whp tuned.

Oh and #5 would be stockish h22. just i/h/e.... but do ur reserch & use quality parts but it will cost as much as a type-R so I unno... unless u want really good tq... I wouldnt bother.

And I suggest u do some more Reserch... ur thinking gs-R, si-R, h22A, k20....

I wouldnt recomend k20... or a gs-R... just my 0.02

How about whatever you can afford?
You just about named off every engine you could possibly want to swap.
Everybody wants a swap or to go fast....it's going to depend on how deep your pockets are. If your broke...rebuild your bottom end and turbo that bitch.Problem solved.
Oh and to save you the emberasment off asking someone again....There is no such thing as double v-tec! WTF?
