Fuel to mileage ratio

Hello y'all just got a civic not too long ago but sadly I really hate it because I get no mileage out of it...im getting about 60km on half tank...i thought it was the O2 sensors and i changed that...also the catalytic converter is cracked but could that be the problem? the car when running always has a nasty smell to it kinda like when you walk into a public washroom...its a 98 civic dx

60km out of 20L??????

the cracked cat is causing the smell for sure.

but that milage... sounds more like your gas tank has a hole! haha if you're prudent on fixing it, then change the cat first.

yeah me and my dad kinda thought the smell was the cat...but i mean the gas tank doesn't seem to have a hole...i know my gas meter is messed up because it goes up and down sometimes...maybe the float is screwed up? but in terms of mileage i'm gettin from it...i have a feeling there's something serious going on...

Well I remember when my cat broke apart and clogged up, I would get about 150km for 40L lol. It was exciting watching your gas needle go down almost unfront of your eyes. Haha.
How does it drive? Does it seem ok? Or absolutely no power?

ive just changed the spark plugs, wires, cap and O2 sensor, the light on the engine is the catalytic converter. and the crack is right where the bolt is...someone may have tightened it too tight.

Change the cat. Have it re-scanned, clear any codes and go from there.

ive heard that the cat for my car is verrryy expensive. i might end up not doing it for awhile...but what about those universal ones you see on ebay will they work? because i heard my cat is attached to manifold.

yeah, you have a d16y7. the cat is on the exhaust manifold. you could get a mech to relocate it so u can use a universal cat, but that might cost a bit.

goto a junk yard to find a cat?

just get a magnaflow cat at partsource/crappy tire. its 60-70$. If you cant weld it on, bring it into a exhaust shop to get it done. Shouldnt cost more than 40-50 bucks. Ask them to keep your old cat and bring that into a scrap yard, you can usually get 20-40$ for it.

^^ those are all universal. OP's cat is attached to the exhaust manifold an can be seen in the engine bay not like most when they run under the car. I'm almost sure you would run into clearence issues if you tried putting on a magnaflow cat in oe location.

Less than it would cost for a OE cat.

I got a brand new cat with exhaust manifold attached right to it from the manager at Canadian tire for $400.. His original price quote was over $1000 and I told him he's wack. He called my cell 3 times while I was driving home, his final price was $400 and I turned back around and bought it cash right then. Stupid car still ain't passin E-test though (Someone spliced an Air/fuel gauge into my O2 sensor circuit..... /facepalm)

Soo yea, OEM cats are out there for reasonable prices. Just search around.
