fan not working, check engine light on

hey i have a little problem. when summer started my car started over heating. i found out why and it is the fan that wasnt turning on. i jumped the wire to see if the fan itself was working, it is. did some electrical tests and found out it was the fan switch that was done. got another one from a guy at proparts and he said it was a working one. put it in and fan still doesnt turn on. i havent checked the new fan switch bt before i do is there anything else i should check too in case the fan switch isnt the problem? thanks

Check your fuses for the fan to see if it's blown or not.

checked fuses for fan before everything was good untill we got to the fan switch. could it be the coolant temperature sensor?

Could be, but it could also be headgasket.

How is it while the car's moving? Temp ok?

On another note, summer doesn't start until the 21st! :P

i also rigged a switch under my dash to turn on my fan whenever my temp starts going up. as soon as its on, its starts cooling right down.

LOL

Have the cooling system pressure tested and see if it's leaking.

Check your t-stat.

Are you getting hot air from the vents? When my h-g went, it wasn't blowing hot.
