Emissions test
Holy .. I failed my emissions so bad..
I dont know why though, this is the first time I done emissions
its a b16
I changed air filter, new cat *the guy gave me a high flow*
pcv valve changed
changed oil.. ran 91 octan, new plugs, thermostat
hc ppm I got 162 O_O
co% 0.65
NO pp, 3918 O_O
RPM was only valid at 2520 and Dilution was at 14.20
Can someone help me out -_-

somebody told me there is no more hot rod classification.. I forget who that was. I haven't looked into it yet though.
Your NOx is pretty damn high..
Well, honestly.. just pay an hours labour to a qualified emission tech and he'll find the problem.
What ecu do you have?

Yeah I heard the same thing about the hot rod class. I have the same motor and it failed aswell in december. I also had a high flow cat, I had it checked and that was the prob, changed the cat and passed with flying colours.

the hot rod class is still there.
it only kicks in if you changed the displacement tho.
vtec and non dont matter, but if u put a 1.8 in an eg for say it would classify it as a hot rod when they entered it in the computer.
Had it done up north as a buddys a tec and i swapped in a d15b jdm motor and he just ran it thru as a 1.8 so i had the added numbers

what was the CFM rating on yours??
i just got mine installed and its 400CFM
dont tell me thats gonna give me a hassle ;s

your NOx is really high but so is your hydrocarbon. this might point to a possible timing problem or the wrong ECU, or a combination of other problems. I gotta agree with letting a pro look at it. but starting with the correct ECU would save you a lotta hassles cuz that way you can eliminate one big concern.

well guys
i did emissions...
and yeah.. needless to say i failed
i only failed on the
NO ppm
the limit was 550 ... i got 868
IMO i think i know what the problem is... i have a AEM cold air intake.. and i have advanced my timing..
BUT it could also be
- Inoperative/ineffective exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
- Excessively lean/air/fuel ratio (i stated this before)
- Malfunctioning or missing catalytic converter (this has been replaced)
- Excessive spark advance
- Faulty thermostatic air cleaner system
- Engine deposits or mechanical defects
- Faulty cooling system
what do you guys think??
