emission test??

i went to get the emission for my 94 civic with b16a2
and it failed every single test very bad..

what might be the possible reason for those??

the figures are mostly more than double the limits..

is there anyone who could help me with the e-test??

help will be much appreciated.

Because you have had an engine swap, I belive you would need to have it tested under a different setting. I believe it's "Hot Rod"?

As you have a bigger engine, it testing under stock setting it will fail.

check the sensors, for example the oxygen sensor, my friend did an engine swap, and also failed the emission test at first b/c the oxygen sensor was f***ed, he replaced it and he passed the emission test with flying colors

just take a look at it, or at the connections, it could be dirty or blacked out and gives wrong readings

yes, when you get engine swap, make sure you check O2 sensor, spark plugs do couple oil changes drive around etc.

under hot rod, i believe they are more lenient

ask your mechanic to check for you, in that motor i believe there are 2 of them....is it ODB1 or 2?

i am not an expert on motors by any means, i will move this to performance section where you are get more detailed answers.

It could be a sensor, but as you have a different engine getting it tested under the hot rod category would be a good idea as your don't have a stock engine anymore. If you test under hot rod it bumps up the legal limits.

Take a look at some of the posts on the old form,

if the displacement is different, then yes, the car is considered a hot rod. so if you had a D16Z6 and went to a B16A, then it would not be a hot rod.

Interesting. But I know of guys with a turbo D16 and had to get tested under hot rod. There was no change in displacement with the turbo.
