DPFI swap to MPFI question
I have 2 Si intakes, 1 has a sensor on the backside, its called the FITV....Fast idle thermal valve. what does it do, and should i use that intake over the one that does not have that sensor?

FITV is not a sensor...The name says it all, its a valve operated by coolant that allows the vehicle to idle higher when its cold. As it warms up the valve shuts allowing the vehicle to idle normally.
Its not necessary, some manifolds, or i should say throttle bodies never came with one and they work just fine in the winter. I don't have one and i don't have problems.

It's really a matter of preference. If you use it, your car might run a little better in the cold, if not then you'll have less clutter under your hood and less coolant lines. Some after market TB's even delete the lines that go through the TB completely. Which those you could see freeze in cold enough weather.

the idle air control is closer to the TB. the thing im talking about mounts below the casting number on the back.
the sensor im refering too has about a 4" wire coming from it and it has a spot for a hose.

ah nvm that is the fast idle valve. its supposed to connect top right corner just before the throttle body.
