Coolant Leak

Hi, I was wondering if anyone might have a hunch what could be the problem with my coolant having to be topped off every week or 2.

I smell coolant when I turn on the fan using fresh air, but of course when I use interior air it doesn't smell. I popped my hood up, and I smell the coolant on the driver side of the engine, where the water pump and timing belt is. I also changed my radiator 8 months ago, and a new hose that leads to the engine, since the old one burst...

Anyways I'm leaning towards getting my water pump and timing belt changed, hoping it'll fix the problem. It could be the head gasket but the smell seems to come from the timing belt area. I've washed my engine 6 times in one year, doesn't smell after its washed but comes back after a few minutes when everything is dry...

Any thoughts?

The seal around the waterpump is probably gone mine was bad but the waterpump was in great shape even at 145k on it. Still I replaced it and the timing belt as well as the alternator and ac belt. All in total it cost me 100 bucks for everything myself.

Thanks for your input. Yea, I'm thinking the seal for the water pump is gone.

i had a leak also, but it was the radiator leaking from the top of the cover ... i would wipe everything down, top off the radiator with coolant and let it idle till you see where the leak comes from.

My mechanic said he did a pressure test and found nothing wrong.
