Burning Oil

Hi All

I find myself adding about 3-4L of oil between oil changes. I change my oil every 5000km and I use Castrol 10W30. I drive about 140km a day to work both ways in stop and go traffic. Anything I can add or change to not burn so much oil.

well if you are burning 4L between oil changes that's really bad, not much you can do in this case except swapping out the motor with another one. you could also try to add some lucas oil stabilizer during oil changes to see if that will help any

If your not leaking oil.. then most likely your motor is on its way out. Usually its the bottom end on higher mileage civics. Do a compression test. If the numbers are low, not much you can do. You can try running a thicker oil. I would try 20w50 since your burning so much. A 10w40 would work as well, but you'd probably still be burning quite a bit.
