B18b CAMS AND CAM GEARS
Hey guys and gals, I just recently did a B18b swap in my 99 civic dx hatch, was wondering about cams and cam gears, because very soon that is my next upgrade, any info would be greatly appreciated!

are you looking for a reasonable price cam gears? if so go to ebay look for Onsoku adjustable camgers $119 shipped, i know people you say don't trust cheap stuff from ebay. my friend and i just installed a set of cam on his B18B and it's performing good..

make sure to get the bolt-ons before jumping into a set of cams/gears. If the engine can't breathe as best as it can, the results from larger cams won't be so great.
And if you are using anything other than stage 1 cams you MUST change the valve springs and retainers otherwise you'll float your valves and they'll get smashed by the pistons.
A lot of people use cams that are too big for their setup, this is called overcamming and will produce less than desired results. Don't go slap in a set of stage 3 cams in your bone stock engine. With anything larger than stage 1 cams, typically you'll need higher compression to get the most out of the cams. Headwork is also important when using larger cams, the engine needs to be capable of moving lots of CFM of air, which stock heads (especially the LS heads) don't really do so well. The more CFM of air the engine can move, generally, the more power it'll make.
Don't forget about tuning either. When changing cams you NEED to get the car tuned, b/c if ur changing the way the air and how much air is entering/exiting the engine, you need to adjust how much fuel is being delivered as well.
